To use the Wildcard you have to make your transfers. Upon confirming these changes, the option to play the Wildcard will appear. After finalising these transfers, the chip is now active and you can transfer in as many players as you want before the upcoming deadline.

When should I use my Wildcard in FPL?
When is the best time to use the wildcard? – A large percentage of the most experienced and successful managers tend to use their wildcards in preparation for medium or large double Gameweeks. This could be to either attack the fixtures in the double and plan for after or to set up for the activation of the bench boost chip.
What is the difference between Wildcard and Free Hit?
Free Hit – On the other hand, the Free Hit chip, which can be used only once per season, allows you to alter your team for a single Gameweek, after which your squad reverts to its original state from before the Free Hit was activated. This is particularly useful in a Gameweek where many of your players face difficult fixtures, or during a double or blank Gameweek to maximize potential points.
Can I use my Wildcard after making transfers?
What is a wildcard? – A wildcard allows you to make unlimited free transfers throughout a Gameweek. Playing a wildcard will remove any points deductions from transfers already made in the same Gameweek. When using a wildcard, you must remain within your current budget. There is no unlimited budget when using a wildcard.
The Wildcard chip can be used twice a season. The first wildcard will be available from the start of the season until Saturday 12th November at 13:30 BST. The second wildcard will be open after Monday 26th December at 13:30 in readiness for the January transfer window opening and will remain available until the end of the season.
Wildcards are played on the transfers page but aren’t active until you have confirmed the transfers. When playing a wildcard, any saved free transfers will be lost. You will be back to the usual one-free transfer the following Gameweek. Once you have played your wildcard, any transfers you make within that Gameweek are free, including any you made before playing your wildcard, up until the next deadline.
Why can’t i use Wildcard FPL?
To use the Wildcard you have to make your transfers. Upon confirming these changes, the option to play the Wildcard will appear. After finalising these transfers, the chip is now active and you can transfer in as many players as you want before the upcoming deadline.
Do I lose my free transfers if I Wildcard?
No. Once you have played your wildcard, any transfers you make within that Gameweek are free, including any you made before playing your wildcard, up until the next deadline.
Should I save my Wildcard?
OTHER OPTIONS – Gameweek 3 is potentially a higher-risk strategy to deploy a Wildcard, given that you’d only have two rounds of fixtures to base your decisions on. However, it can help increase team value and perhaps allow you to get ahead of the curve. For example, you could hop on Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur ‘s fixture swings at the perfect time, both of whom have new managers in Mauricio Pochettino and Ange Postecoglou respectively.

This approach could help you get off to the best possible start, allowing you to build team value at a time when there is a lot of fluctuation in prices. However, there isn’t much to go off on the pitch, which isn’t ideal. If the earlier windows come and go without the need to play your Wildcard, there could be merit to saving it until Gameweek 13, which follows the third and final international break of the calendar year, or even later.
Are Wildcard transfers permanent?
All You Need To Know About FPL Wildcard The Fantasy Premier League (FPL) wildcard chip gives you unlimited transfers for the game week. It stops you from receiving the transfer penalty for that week. You can activate it before you make the transfers or after you make the transfers.
Usually, when you make more than your designated one free transfer per week, you incur a penalty of -4 points. This is obviously has an impact on your overall season, so you want to avoid it whenever you can. You get two FPL wildcards in a season. One at the start of the season (before 28th December), and one in the second half of the season.
The wildcards don’t rollover. So if you don’t use your first wildcard before the 28th December, you will lose it and still only have one going into the second half of the season. While there is no definitive ‘best’ time to use your wildcards, here are a few suggestions of when your wildcard could come in handy.
- Players’ recent form
- How long newly transferred players will take to settle
- Which teams might start quick/slow
Basically, one or two weeks in, we can start to see the initial picture of how the start of the season is shaping up. In this time, most of us generally start to see some mistakes in our selections and initial predictions, it happens to the best of us.
- Therefore, a wildcard can be used to relieve us of these mis-predictions.
- Stranger things have happened than 3 or 4 of your fantasy team’s players picking up an injury in the same week (I’m looking at you Leicester).
- In these cases, a wildcard can help you out of such an unfortunate event.
- You can get all of your injured players replaced rather than having to painstakingly make the transfers one-by-one each week to avoid that dreaded -4 penalty.
Although most big money transfers are made in the summer, it is not uncommon for a big name or two to arrive to the Premier League in January. The likes of Van Dijk, Laporte and Aubameyang all joined Premier League clubs in the January transfer window.
- If it just so happens that you can’t wait to get all these exciting new signings in your fantasy team, this could be a good time to use a wildcard.
- Remember though, it’ll be your last wild card of the season as it will be using your your second half of the season wildcard.
- Now that a few games have been postponed, there will be potential for double game weeks.
So far, the confirmed game weeks for the 2021/22 FPL season are game week 21 and game week 22. In the game weeks leading up to these, you could use your wildcard to ensure you have a good amount of players playing double game weeks. Alternatively, you could plan your team up to the double game weeks by making transfers week by week, then wildcard after the double game weeks to revert your team back to an all round strong team.
- No. Once you have chosen to use your wildcard, you can not reverse your decision.
- No, you can only use one chip per week.
- This is why it’s a good idea to try and plan out which chips you will use a little in advance.
- It’s always good to consider each chip every time you notice a blank or double game week.
Yes. Every transfer you make when using your wildcard is permanent. Once you have activated your wildcard, made your transfers for the game week and the deadline has passed, you will play with that team from that point forward. This is unlike the free hit.
- Yes, once you wildcard, you will lose any stored free transfers and in the next game week, you will be reset back to 1 free transfer.
- Yes, you can use your FPL wildcard to take advantage of price changes.
- Due to you having unlimited transfers, you can make transfers throughout the week to avoid price falls and make profit on price rises.
An example of this would be, if you transferred a player into your team and you thought he was going to fall in price overnight, you could take him out of your team for the time being, then once he has dropped in price, put him back in the next day and get him for £0.1m cheaper.
The way it works if you want to make profit on a price rise is slightly different. With price rises, you only receive 50% of the price rise. For example, if a player you own increases from £10.0m to £10.1m, you will still only be able to sell them for £10.0m. They would have to rise to £10.2m for you to be able to sell them for £10.1m.
If the player then rises to £10.4m, you could sell them for £10.2m. Its all well and good knowing when to use your wildcard and what its for, but this guide below will tell you how to play it:
- Open the app and navigate to the fantasy section
- Tap ‘transfers’
- Make the transfers you wish to make for the week but DO NOT confirm
- Tap ‘next step’ to confirm your transfers
- Tap ‘play wildcard’
After these steps are complete, you can then make as many transfers you want before the next deadline with no penalty.
- Open
- Sign in and navigate to ‘transfers’
- Make the transfers you wish to make but DO NOT confirm
- Click ‘make transfers’
- Click ‘play wildcard’
After these steps are complete, you can then make as many transfers you want before the next deadline with no penalty. Your wildcard lasts until the next upcoming deadline. It only lasts 1 game week. So you can make as many changes to your team until the deadline of the next game week then your team will be locked in and you will return to receiving 1 free transfer per week.
- As long as you are still in the current game week that you made those transfers for, you can use the wildcard after making transfers.
- The difference between the wildcard and free hit is that your wildcard transfers are permanent whereas your free hit transfers will reset the week after.
- Therefore, your freehit is best used to plan for a single game week, but a wildcard should be used when you’re planning for the current game week and future game weeks to come.

How many Free Hits and wildcards?
In the 2021/22 season, FPL gave managers two Free Hits due to unprecedented fixture disruption. In 2022/23, the situation has reverted to normal and fantasy managers will have just the one Free Hit. Just like a Wildcard, you can make unlimited changes to your squad.
Do I lose my free transfers if I Free Hit?
No extra transfers – Be aware that when playing your Free Hit chip, any free transfers carried over from previous Gameweeks will be lost. You will be back to the usual one free transfer for the following Gameweek. Also, if you use your free transfer and then subsequently decide to play the Free Hit chip, you will lose the initial signing you made.
What is the point of wildcard?
North America – In North American professional sports leagues, “wild card” refers to a team that qualifies for the championship playoffs without winning their specific conference or division outright. The number of wild card teams varies. In most cases, the rules of the league call for the wild card team to survive an extra round or to play the majority of their postseason games away from home.
Although the exact rules among the leagues differ, they all generally agree that the wild card team (or teams, as in MLB, NFL, and NHL) are the ones with the best records among the teams that did not win their divisions; these teams usually finish as the runner-up to their division winners. The term “wild card” does not apply to postseason formats where a set number of teams per division qualify.
Former examples include: the American Football League ‘s 1969 playoffs (qualifying the top two finishers from each division), the National Basketball Association ‘s 1967-through-1970 playoffs (top four finishers from each division) and 1971–1972 playoffs (top two finishers in each division), and the National Hockey League ‘s 1968–1974 and 1982–1993 playoffs (top four finishers from each division) are not true wild card formats.
Can you have 2 wildcards at the same time?
When can I use the wildcard? – You can use the wildcard whenever you want, but it can only be used twice during the course of the season, so it is wise to carefully consider the timing. A wildcard can be used once in the first half of the season (before 11:30am GMT on Saturday December 28) and once in the second half of the season,
Does wildcard reset your team?
You can use a wildcard on any Gameweek – as long as you haven’t already played another chip – to make unlimited transfers without incurring a points hit. It is the best way to reset your squad. However, before you proceed with any moves, you must consider certain factors. Plan your new look team.
What happens after wildcard?
How do NFL play-off wild cards work? – The NFL is divided into two conferences: the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC). During the regular season, these two sections are in turn split up into four divisions of four teams – north, south, east and west – with the winners of each going through to the play-offs, in which the two conferences remain separated until the Super Bowl.
- The remaining six postseason places are given to three wild-card qualifiers from each conference,
- These spots go to the teams with the best win-loss-tie records outside the division champions.
- While the division winners are seeded one to four in the playoffs depending on their record during the regular season, the wild cards are seeded five to seven,
The top seeds in the AFC and in the NFC both get a bye in the first phase of the play-offs, which is known as the wild-card round. Meanwhile, the second seed hosts the seventh seed, the third seed hosts the sixth seed and the fourth seed hosts the fifth seed,
After the wild-card round, the teams from the AFC and NFC must negotiate two further playoff stages – the four-team divisional round and the two-team conference championships – before the winners of each conference go head to head in the Super Bowl, As in the wild-card round, the divisional round pits the highest seed against the lowest seed.
Throughout the conference playoffs, the higher-seeded team is given home advantage, Super Bowl LVII is scheduled to be played on Sunday, Feb.12.
Can I use wildcard and triple captain?
Can I use triple captain the same week as my free hit, bench boost or wildcard? – No, you can only use one chip per week. This is why it’s a good idea to try and plan out which chips you will use a little in advance. It’s always good to consider each chip every time you notice a blank or double game week.
Is free hit permanent?
How to activate the Free Hit –
- Frustratingly, the Free Hit button is very prominent on the “confirm transfers” page of the FPL website and app, but there is a further screen to navigate before it is activated.
- It is important to note that the Free Hit chip cannot be cancelled once it is activated — unlike the Bench Boost and Triple Captain chips, which can be toggled on or off in the FPL home screen.
- The mechanism for playing the Free Hit is very similar to that of the Wildcard, except that the changes are not permanent.
- And similar to your Wildcard, the week after playing the Free Hit you’ll only have one free transfer, regardless of whether you rolled a transfer the previous gameweek.
- This gives an upside for a planned Free Hit, as it’s logical to use any available free transfers in the gameweek prior to the one where you plan to play the chip.
Does wildcard cancel hits?
Does Wildcard cancel hits? – Yes, playing a Wildcard removes any points deductions from transfers already made in the same Gameweek. Hence, it effectively cancels “hits” or points penalties for extra transfers.
How many wildcards do you get?
Two Wildcards – The Wildcard chip can be used twice a season. The first Wildcard will be available from the start of the season until Gameweek 16 on Saturday 12 November at 13:30. The second Wildcard will be available after Monday 26 December 13:30, ahead of Gameweek 18, in readiness for the January transfer window opening and remain available until the end of the season.
What is a wildcard option?
What Is a Wild Card Option? – A wild card option is a type of option that is embedded in certain Treasury securities, It permits the seller of a Treasury bond to postpone delivery of its underlying asset until after regular trading hours. This option benefits the seller because it allows them to benefit from a few hours’ extra time in which to secure a favorable price before settling their futures contract.
Are Wildcard transfers permanent?
Benefits – As aforementioned, the main benefit of the wildcard chip is that it allows unlimited free transfers for one game week. One can avoid deducting points to make changes to their lineup if many of their chosen players become injured or struggle with form.
- There is a difference between wildcard and free hit chips.
- While the transfers made using wildcard are permanent, the free hit allows for unlimited transfers which revert after that particular game week and it is available once a season, unlike the wildcard which is available twice.
- Of the two wildcards, the other becomes available as soon as the first one is used by the FPL managers.
Some of the best occasions to use the wildcard is after an international break as it presents a good opportunity to bring in-form players to the lineup and cast out injured players. For more updates, follow Khel Now on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and join our community on Telegram,

Can I use Wildcard and triple captain?
All You Need To Know About FPL Triple Captain Triple captain is where you choose one game week where your captain scores triple points instead of the usual double points. Keep in mind, if your triple captain scores negative points, they will also be tripled.
For example -3 will turn into -9, so you best hope he doesn’t see a red card! Once. The triple captain is a one-time thing. This is why most managers put so much thought into when to use it. And why I have created this strategy guide to help you through the nerve-racking process of choosing the correct time to play the chip.
Double game weeks are always good. A double game week is when a team will play two matches in one game week. These usually happen if a team goes far in the F.A or League Cup so their games have to be re-scheduled. It can also occur when matches are postponed.
- Maybe for extreme weather etc.
- Obviously, if your captain plays twice across one game week, he has 180 minutes (plus stoppage time, of course) to score and assist, as opposed to 90.
- He also has the potential to pick up two sets of clean sheet points, bonus points and minutes played points.
- Although most managers use their triple captain chip on a double game week, it’s not the only strategy.
Maybe your selected captain is playing against a team has conceded a lot of goals in the past few weeks, or is on the best form of his life? Or even better, both! This is a great time to activate your triple captain chip. We always recommend to keep an eye on upcoming fixtures and teams’ form.
- But in this case, it has triple importance. Yes.
- Some things, such as injuries are unpredictable and unavoidable.
- However, your vice captain will get the triple point bonus if your captain doesn’t play.
- Make sure you take great care in choosing your vice captain on the week you choose to play your triple captain chip.
Once. You can only use your triple captain chip one time in a season. This is what makes it such a burden. If you’ve done the research and your triple captain chip failed to pay off, there’s not much you can do. Although it can get you a few extra points in a game week, FPL is a marathon, not a sprint.
- No, you can only use one chip per week.
- This is why it’s a good idea to try and plan out which chips you will use a little in advance.
- It’s always good to consider each chip every time you notice a blank or double game week.
- Once you have selected the triple captain chip, the bench boost and free hit options will be greyed out, as well as your wildcard.
You also can not use the triple captain chip once the wildcard chip is active. It’s well and good knowing when to use the triple captain chip but how do you activate it? Navigate to the ‘pick team’ page on the FPL app or website, then at the top of the page, there should be a button for each chip.
- Just select the triple captain button and the chip will be activated.
- Once selected, you’ll then have to confirm your selection and once you’re locked in, so make sure you are sure you want to do it.
