How many chapters will have the Boys season 3?
The Boys season 3 is premiering on Prime Video and we break down exactly how many episodes will release and when to expect the season 3 finale. How many episodes are in The Boys season 3 and when is the finale? Since the season 2 finale aired in October 2020, fans have been patiently waiting for The Boys season 3 to premiere on Amazon Prime Video. After a year and a half, some of which was due to filming delays due to the ongoing pandemic, the highly-anticipated season 3 is finally here.
- The Boys season 2 saw the end of Stormfront’s time as a member of The Seven.
- Following the reveal of her Nazi plan to the public and an explosive run-in with Ryan, Homelander’s son, Stormfront’s story ended in grisly fashion.
- Elsewhere, Queen Maeve stepped up, taking out Black Noir and blackmailing Homelander,
The Boys season 3 will pick up a year after the events of season 2, including the titular characters going their separate ways — Hughie to work with Victoria Neuman and Billy Butcher joining Grace Mallory’s taskforce. With the introduction of Soldier Boy, a revered, yet aggressive Supe who worked for Vought, and other super-powered beings joining the series, season 3 will see The Boys contending with a lot in addition to The Seven.
As with previous seasons, The Boys season 3 will consist of eight episodes in total, each clocking in at around 50 minutes to an hour. The first three episodes of season 3 will release simultaneously on Prime Video on Friday, June 3. After, The Boys will revert to a weekly episodic release schedule for the remaining five episodes.
This is the same format The Boys season 2 followed. The first three episodes get fans excited, but releasing the remaining episodes on a weekly basis means the conversations about the series last longer than if the entire season was released at once. While it’s unclear how each character’s story will end by the season 3 finale, it’s possible there will be quite a few game-changing moments before all is said and done.
Is Boys season 3 the finale?
Lingering questions. – Will we see Maeve again? Will she be a last-ditch point of call when The Boys run out of ideas? Will Grace Mallory begin her own experiments with Soldier Boy and use him against Vought? What lovely father-son destruction will Homelander and Ryan get up to? Will anything The Boys does again be bigger and more graphic than episode 6’s Herogasm? The good news is that Amazon Studios has already renewed The Boys for a fourth season,

Is Soldier Boy stronger than Homelander?
Who would win in a fight between Soldier Boy and Homelander? Soldier Boy, portrayed by Jensen Ackles, is THE Supe, or rather, he WAS. Soldier Boy is ‘ equivalent to – America’s first and greatest superhero. At least, until Vought International cooked up Homelander to be, in his words, the “upgrade”. A 1v1 fight between Homelander and Soldier Boy wouldn’t be fair, but we don’t think Soldier Boy will go down quite easily either. Homelander has reigned as the leader of The Seven for years, effectively displacing Soldier Boy as the world’s Apex Supes.
We shudder at the thought of a super-powered man-child experiencing injury for the first time in his life. Herogasm reached its climax (get it?) just as Soldier Boy’s energy blast leveled the entire house and killed dozens, including his intended targets, the TNT twins.
Upon their meeting, Anthony Starr’s Homelander expressed admiration for Soldier Boy. The twisted egomaniac version of DC’s told Soldier Boy that he was his hero growing up, saying that he was the only one who could relate to his strength. After exchanging some words, the two duke it out with Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher and Jack Quaid’s Hughie Campbell joining in to help Soldier Boy against Homelander.
The trio eventually pins Homelander, giving Soldier Boy a chance to take the tyrant out with a massive energy blast only for Homelander to wriggle his way out and fly away to safety. We’re not going to lie, seeing Homelander struggle like that was surprising.
- It’s also heavily hinted in the episode’s ending that Homelander is struggling to cope with getting injured for the first time.
- It’s impossible to overstate how important this is.
- Homelander is nigh-invulnerable and he is a test tube baby.
- He was born with his powers and didn’t go through a normal childhood.
Do you remember when you first scraped your knee? Your first reaction was probably either to cry or lash out. Judging by Homelander’s personality, he’s more of the latter kind of person. Unfortunately, when Homelander lashes out, he can take down entire cities or the world if he wanted to. Unlike in the comic books, The Boys’ Black Noir doesn’t look like he’s as powerful as Homelander. This is a difficult question to answer. In the comic books, Black Noir killed Homelander and that was only because Black Noir is literally just a copy of Homelander.
- Herogasm showed us that there is a gap between Soldier Boy and Homelander.
- At the same time, we know that Soldier Boy hasn’t gotten a full grasp on how his new powers work and if the Russians gave him more powers.
- His nuclear blast, for example, is easily the most destructive power we’ve seen in The Boys.
If he can get a grip on it, Soldier Boy has a good shot at taking out Homelander. Keep in mind, Soldier Boy wasn’t raised in a lab. He was a homeless man who signed up for the program in exchange for food and shelter. He also would have grown up right in the middle of the Great Depression.
This would make him scrappy, stoic, and someone who just won’t back down without putting up a fight. Plus, he’s fought in multiple wars and seen a lot of fucked up shit. Unlike his new and improved counterpart, Soldier Boy probably knows how to deal with people who are just as strong if not stronger than he is.
We can’t say this about Homelander, who usually just powers his way through everything and everyone. Make no mistake, Homelander is more powerful than Soldier Boy, but can he take him out in a fight? We don’t think so. Besides, unlike Homelander, who probably wants all the credit for himself, Soldier Boy isn’t above asking for help. Judging by Jensen Ackles’ popularity, we don’t think that ‘s going to follow the comic books closely when it comes to Soldier Boy’s portrayal. If these two powerhouses ever meet again, we doubt it will be just the two of them. And, with Homelander pretty much all on his own now, Soldier Boy has a good shot at toppling Vought International’s tyrannical ruler with the help of the titular group.
Is The Boys season 4 in 2023?
Has The Boys season 4 release date been announced yet? – Well, no, The Boys season 4 release date has not been announced, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to be announced anytime soon. We know that Gen V is coming to Prime Video this year. That’s The Boys spinoff, and it looks awesome.
- But, we were hoping to see both of The Boys shows this year.
- It’s almost guaranteed that will not happen after Kripke tweeted that The Boys season 4 is delayed by the WGA strike.
- We know some shows that wrapped production before the strike are in post-production, but that’s not happening with The Boys season 4 for the reasons Kripke mentioned.
Production ended in April 2023 for more of the cast and crew. Some of the cast could have still been filming into May, but it’s officially wrapped now. Eric Kripke also teased Gen V, The Boys spinoff, is coming in the fall of 2023, which is a bit later than we thought.
- We were expecting Gen V in the summer, which then would set The Boys season 4 up for a release in the later part of fall, maybe September or October, but that’s not going to happen now.
- Hopefully, the AMPTP will offer the WGA a deal that works for them and then the rest of The Boys season 4 will be finished.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that the studios will be obliging anytime soon, which means The Boys season 4 is almost certainly not coming in late 2023. Early 2024 is still on the table, but the longer the strike goes on, the longer we’re going to be waiting for The Boys season 4.
- For now, we’re updating our release prediction to spring 2024.
- We’re assuming that there are at least four to six months of post-production and promotion that will have to take place before the season will be available.
- Since there is no sign of the strike ending, spring 2024 seems like a safer bet at this point.

Is it worth watching The Boys?
It is certainly not for children. Despite these shock-value gimmicks, however, ‘The Boys’ is actually a fantastic show. ‘The Boys’ is one of the best written and acted shows not just on Amazon Prime, but across all streaming platforms.
Is Soldier Boy really Homelander’s dad?
Suddenly, Butcher’s master plan has a major problem heading into the season finale. Warning: This article contains spoilers from The Boys season 3, episode 7. Well, The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke did say there were many reasons why he couldn’t adapt the Homelander-sexing-Soldier-Boy scene from the comics.
Season 3’s penultimate episode, “Here Comes a Candle to Light You to Bed,” made that more abundantly clear. Soldier Boy ( Jensen Ackles ) phoned up Homelander (Antony Starr) in the final minutes of the episode because he made a discovery. Back in 1980, he was called into the lab of Jonah Vogelbaum (John Doman), the scientist who oversaw the creation of Homelander.
Soldier Boy didn’t know why he was there, just that it had something to do with genetics. So he beat his meat (his words) into a cup. A year later, Homelander was born. Yup, Soldier Boy is Homelander’s biological father. Suddenly all these daddy issues make a lot more sense.
This character element isn’t from the original The Boys comics, but was something Kripke and the writer’s room came up with for the show. Ackles, in an interview with EW, points out the obvious: “It really complicates the situation in a really interesting way.” Ackles didn’t know about his character’s big twist until he already started production and received the script for the seventh episode.
He feels Kripke might not have wanted the reveal to affect the way he approached Soldier Boy. Once he did know, Ackles says, “I immediately started to shift the performance a bit to be two things.” “One, a little more similar to what Ant does with Homelander because now there’s a genetic similarity, but also I paid close attention to what Homelander’s relationship with his son was and started to play into that because that, then, played itself out,” the actor explains. Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) teams up with Hughie (Jack Quaid) to take down a member of Payback on ‘The Boys’ | Credit: Amazon Studios “Here Comes a Candle to Light You to Bed” further makes clear that the birth of Homelander — whom Vogelbaum was sure would grow to become more powerful than Soldier Boy — was the reason Vought proposed a plan to get rid of the super-soldier.
Because of that, Ackles felt the fatherly twist was a great way to show Soldier Boy’s own insecurities: “Does he dethrone his replacement, or does he embrace the fact that it’s his son?” Kripke says if you go back and rewatch previous episodes, you’ll be able to pick up on the parallels between Soldier Boy and Homelander, including how Homelander’s relationship with Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott) mirrored Soldier Boy’s relationship with Crimson Countess (Laurie Holden).
“They say a lot of the same things, they do a lot of the same things,” Kripke says, adding, “You start to understand how the notion of this toxicity is passed.” Starr knew about the twist from the beginning of the season and says it felt “very Star Wars,” (Homelander, I am your father!) “It’s an interesting conundrum for both characters, but particularly for Homelander,” the actor says.
- He’s always been looking for love and connection, and the revelation that he has a father really resurfaces that craving that he has for family.
- We tried to make it like Homelander really goes off in his own head.
- He becomes very mentally fractured and goes off on a bit of a fantasy of family and having the three generations all together.
He’s going to have a very male, but he’s going to have a family. There’s going to be this intergenerational bonding experience.” Watch Kripke and his cast discuss more behind-the-scenes secrets of The Boys season 3, episode 7 from EW’s On Set in the video above.

Biological –
Lack of Electricity : If there is no source of electricity for Annie to absorb, she has no power to harness. When locked in the prison in Vought Tower, she was powerless due to the lack of any lights or electrical sources in the room. When she was out on a mission with The Boys, any power source for her to use had been depleted by the EMP Supe, rendering her unable to use her electricity powers. Blunt Force/Limited Durability : Supes such as Homelander, Soldier Boy, Black Noir, Queen Maeve, and Stormfront possess strength greater than hers and can overpower and even kill her. Also, her skin is not completely indestructible, since Frenchie was able to pierce through her skin with a drill. High caliber bullets are powerful enough to stun her.

Is Black Noir a good guy?
For the Dynamite version of the character, see Black Noir/Comics,
“ | So, listen, if I’m gonna take a more central role on the team, then I want to lose the mask.” “Silent ninjas score extremely high with boys seven to ten years old. The mask lends a certain mystique.” “Well, fuck mystique. People don’t even know it’s me under this thing. I got to wear it just to get a cab. | “ |
Earving, better known as Black Noir, was a major antagonist in the Amazon series The Boys, Serving as a supporting antagonist in Season 1, the secondary antagonist of Season 2, and a major anti-villain in Season 3, He was a mute, darkly costumed superhero and a member of The Seven,
- Silent, stealthy, and enigmatic, Black Noir was The Seven’s superpowered ninja.
- His super strength and heightened senses were matched only by his proficiency in the martial arts.
- Criminals ran in terror at the mere mention of his name.
- Little is known about this lethal warrior, other than having trained with a master sensei to become the death dealer he used to be.
To the public whatever lies behind Black Noir’s mask is a complete mystery – which only made him more terrifying. Noir lost his ability to think properly and speak after Soldier Boy violently beat part of his brain in and stuck his face on top of a burning car.
How strong is Maeve?
Former Powers –
Superhuman Strength: One of Queen Maeve’s primary abilities is tremendously enhanced superhuman strength, far greater than that of normal human beings. She was one of the most physically powerful Supes to have ever lived, only surpassed by Homelander. Her strength is so great that when she was younger, she punched a falling school bus, even though doing so broke her own arm in four places. Her feats include breaking a speeding armored truck in half by standing still, effortlessly flipping a table across an apartment, and effortlessly snapping a man’s neck after lifting him with one hand. During the filming of movie, she was able to lift a large hunk of metal. She also possesses the ability to leap great distances. She was shown to be able to put Black Noir in a head-lock long enough to force feed him an Almond Joy and overpower Stormfront, who both possess high levels of super strength and durability. Maeve is shown to be strong enough to give Homelander a nosebleed after hitting him directly in the face and take him on in single combat, albeit Homelander was focusing on Soldier Boy at the time. Her strength also allowed her to jam a small metal rod into Homelander’s ear, causing it to bleed and affect his hearing. Maeve’s last act of strength was when she speed-blitzed into Soldier Boy, leaping out of Vought Tower with him as he prepared to unleash his radioactive blast. Homelander had even claimed that she was the second strongest member of the Seven.
Queen Maeve halting a van
Superhuman Durability: Queen Maeve is immune to nearly all forms of physical harm, her durability being the most similar to that of Homelander than any other known Supes. Maeve was durable enough to survive being hit by a speeding armored van, splitting it in half. Her resilience is such that she can be carried by Homelander while flying at his top speed (sufficient to overtake a passenger jet several thousand miles away), and suffer no ill effects from friction or turbulence. During a training session, she was barely fazed from being struck across the face with a metal pole. Maeve was also able to take punches from Homelander and even briefly endured his Heat Vision on her chest before quickly blocking it with her armored wristguards. She managed to withstand a fully fledged energy blast from Soldier Boy and the subsequent fall from Vought Tower (albeit with injury). However, like many other Supes, her eyes are more vulnerable and Homelander was able to gouge out her right eye. Superhuman Speed: Maeve is able to achieve speeds that allow her run along walls of buildings, defying gravity for short periods of time. Running in this manner, she was easily able to overtake and pass a speeding armored vehicle. Superhuman Agility: Queen Maeve’s agility, balance, and bodily coordination are all enhanced to levels that are way beyond the natural physical limits of even the finest human athlete. On a mission with Homelander, she jumped high onto a wall and was even able to run across it. Superhuman Stamina: Queen Maeve’s musculature produces considerably fewer fatigue toxins during physical activity than the musculature of a human being. She can exert herself at peak capacity for about 24 hours before fatigue begins to impair her. She is able to defeat multiple attackers simultaneously with little effort. Superhuman Reflexes: Queen Maeve’s reflexes are similarly enhanced and are superior to those of the finest human athlete, being able to avoid swings from several metal pole-wielding trainers. Maeve was able to easily dodge many of Homelander’s attacks and counter him. Superhuman Senses: Queen Maeve apparently has enhanced senses. She was easily able to detect Translucent, although he was motionless and invisible in the ladies’ room, much to his surprise. Furthermore, she was able to see that Homelander was wearing concealer to hide a bruise on his face.
“ | You know, back when things were, uh, better between us. I used to dream of having kids with you. No, I did. A family. Nesting, you know. I-I mean, can you imagine how perfect our kids would be? Sublime. Twice as strong as Ryan. | “ |
ul> Genetic Superiority: According to Homelander, he and Maeve were capable of producing children twice as strong as Ryan.

Will Black Noir be in season 4?
Will season 4 of The Boys bring back the same Black Noir? – In an interview with a media house, showrunner Eric Kripke confirmed that Nathan Mitchell, who has played Black Noir since the show’s first season, will be back for season 4. However, he will be playing a different character this time.
When asked whether Noir was in the previous season, Kripke assured that the character’s organs were scattered all over the place. “We’re bringing Black Noir back, but it’s not the same Black Noir,” Kripke said, revealing that Nathan Mitchell would be playing a different take on the character within the same suit.
Kripke did not offer any further details about the new character, but he did mention that he is “hilarious.” This suggests that the new Noir will be a different personality than the stoic and serious character that fans have known all along. It is unclear how the new supes will fit into the story of The Boys season 4.
Who killed the Homelander?
Trivia –
Homelander is a parody of Superman and Captain America possessing the power set and fabricated backstory of the former and the patriotic costume of the latter. Ironically, Superman is one of Garth Ennis’ favorite superheroes despite his disdain for the genre. Although Homelander is one of the main antagonists of the comic series, he is not killed by his archenemy Billy, but is instead killed by Black Noir. His name literally means “A person from one’s homeland”. It is suggested that the homeland he’s born from would be America (due to his outfit). The Amazon version of the character, played by Antony Starr, is almost completely identical to his comic counterpart, save for a more Herculean physique as opposed to being built like a tank, and a slightly altered costume akin to Hyperion and Ultraman.
However, his Amazon version counterpart was shown that he actually raped Billy Butcher’s wife, while in the comics he doesn’t.
Is The Boys DC or Marvel?
Is The Boys connected to DC or Marvel comics? – The Boys is not connected to DC or Marvel comics, unless you consider it’s satirical jabs at the two companies a connection. The Boys touts a list of similar superheros we’ve come to know from Marvel and DC (Homelander as Superman, Queen Maeve as Wonder Woman, Ezekiel as Mr.
- Fantastic) and takes jabs at the cinematic universes they have created.
- For instance, The Boys ‘ in-universe movie, Dawn of the Seven is both a jab at Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Marvel Studios.
- In the show, Vought Studios produces all of the Vought Cinematic Universe films such as Queen Maeve: Her Majesty and Dawn of the Seven,
The list of hilarious comparisons goes on and on. The Boys did have a brief real-world connection to DC during its first year of publication in 2006 when it was picked up by WildStorm, an imprint of DC Comics. However, the next year it switched to Dynamite Entertainment after concerns arose about its dark take on superheroes.
- The comic book was picked up and adapted by Amazon Studios years later, premiering on the streaming platform in July 2019.
- Since then it’s amassed millions of viewers, some of whom are only just discovering the show is The differences between The Boys and both Marvel and DC are vast and dramatic.
- The Boys sports much more violence, gore, and profanity than either comic or cinematic universe combined, causing some fans to speculate how the satirical superheroes would against the MCU superheroes.
To date, superheroes have often been placed in a neat and orderly box that feel unrealistic and constricting. For that reason, The Boys stands in sharp — yet welcome — relief, as the show has made it a point to blow up said box with as much dynamite as possible, with about as much impact as, say, an exploding head.
Who is joining The Boys season 4?
The Boys Season 4 cast – There are a bunch of new cast members joining in Season 4, including Susan Heyward, who is starring as Sister Sage, and Valorie Curry, who is starring as Firecracker. Both of these characters are superheroes. “These new Supes are some of the best & craziest ever written for #TheBoys,” Kripke wrote of the news.
You are going to love them. And by love, I mean be absolutely horrified & a tiny bit nauseous.” Amazon also shared that Crovetti, who plays Ryan, has been upped to series regular. On Oct.10, 2022, The Boys dropped first look photos of Heyward’s Sage and Curry’s Firecracker. “Wait till you see @susanheyward & @valoriecurry in action,” Kripke wrote in a repost,
“Horrific & hilarious & very, very dangerous.” On Aug.25, 2022, Deadline reported that Jeffrey Dean Morgan will join the cast of The Boys as a recurring guest star. Amazon did not share the character Morgan will play. The actor previously worked with Kripke on The CW’s Supernatural, where Morgan starred as John Winchester.
- Can’t tell you how excited I am! Big thanks to @therealKripke and @AMCPlus & @TheBoysTV for finding a way with both schedules,” Morgan wrote on Twitter after the announcement, referencing his upcoming series The Walking Dead: Dead City,
- No easy task.
- SO DAMN STOKED!!” On Dec.1, The Boys revealed new members joining the Season 4 cast.
They include Rosemarie DeWitt, who will star as Hughie’s mom, as well as Rob Benedict and Elliot Knight, No information was shared about who Benedict and Knight will play. Amazon also said that Simon Pegg will return as Hughie’s dad in the upcoming season.
As for the rest of the cast, we are expecting Antony Starr, Chace Crawford, Jessie T. Usher, Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Tomer Kapon, Karen Fukuhara, Laz Alonso, Claudia Doumit, and Colby Minifie to return. We don’t know if Jensen Ackles ‘ Soldier Boy will be back for The Boys Season 4.
But we can at least expect the macho character elsewhere. At a Supernatural fan convention in April, Ackles said Soldier Boy will appear in the The Boys spin-off Gen V. ” pops up for a brief moment in this new spin-off of The Boys,” Ackles said, according to Entertainment Weekly.
“In fact, there’s a few cameos from the mothership that come into this spin-off.” Gen V is based on The Boys comic book arc “We Gotta Go Now.” And in June 2023, Ackles confirmed that Soldier Boy isn’t dead, according to Screen Rant, and seemingly referenced those Gen V rumors by saying, “There’s some things out there.
I’m not allowed to give anything out, but we’ll just say that Soldier Boy is not dead. Thank God.” You don’t say “I’m not allowed to give anything out” without having something to give out, so we’ll consider this a confirmation that we’ll see Soldier Boy again.
