How long does pork chops take in air fryer?
Tips For The Best Air Fryer Pork Chops – Whether you choose bone-in or boneless cuts, follow these guidelines for juicier, more flavorful meat:
- Bring meat to room temperature. Recipes for pork chops in the air fryer work best if you bring the meat to room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This allows them to cook more evenly and avoid drying out.
- Don’t marinate for longer than 12 hours. They can get mushy if they are left in the marinade for longer than that.
- Give them space. Avoid crowding the air fryer basket. There should be a small space between the chops. If there isn’t enough room, cook in batches.
- Don’t overcook. Since pork chops are a lean cut of meat, they can dry out easily if you cook them too long. I recommend sticking a probe thermometer into the thickest part of one of the chops before you close the air fryer. This way you don’t have to let heat out to check for doneness.
- Remember to rest. To retain the juices inside, take 5 minutes to let the chops rest before slicing and serving. If you cut into them right away, they will taste more dry.
Yes, you can cook frozen chops in the air fryer. At 400 degrees F, they will take about 3-5 minutes longer than fresh. To cook from frozen, cook for about 8 minutes, then flip, insert your probe thermometer, and continue cooking until they reach 145 degrees F. (You can also use the time chart above, and add 3-5 minutes.)
- Store: Keep leftover pork chops in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days.
- Reheat: You can reheat pork chops in the air fryer, too! I prefer to set the temperature low, about 200 degrees F, and heat for about 10 minutes. But if you don’t have much time, just a few minutes at 400 degrees F or reheating in the microwave will work just fine.
- Freeze: Place leftovers in a freezer bag and freeze for 2-3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating.
Now that you know how to cook pork chops in air fryer, here are some ideas for what to serve with them:
- Potatoes – Roasted potatoes or creamy mashed sweet potatoes are a classic pairing, but I often go for lighter swaps like baked sweet potatoes, pan fried radishes, or smooth cauliflower mash,
- Simple Salads – Try a sweet kale salad, a crunchy and creamy cucumber salad, or tangy marinated artichoke salad for a fresh side dish.
- Vegetables – While your air fryer pork chops cook, use your oven to roast zucchini, tender eggplant, or broccoli (pictured above). Or if you want to do everything in your air fryer, try air fryer vegetables,

Is it ok if my pork is slightly pink? – The short answer to this common question is yes! Due to the ingredients and natural preservatives found in many pork products, it’s entirely possible that your meat may still be slightly pink even when it’s fully cooked.
How do you cook pork loin steaks so they are not dry?
My best tips for perfect pork loin steaks –
Only flip them once; when some browning has happened on the underside. Don’t use a spatula to press down on the steaks. This removes all the juices and dries out the steaks. Season thoroughly before adding the pork loin steaks to the pan. Don’t overcrowd the pan. Make sure that each steak has enough room to breathe. Make sure to use enough butter. Don’t substitute for oil or cooking spray. The steaks have cooked through when the juices run clear, not red. Pork loin steaks can be prepared medium to rare (slightly pink meat), or well done (completely white meat). The meat will feel more firm and tough the more cooked it is. If you need to cook many steaks in multiple batches, you can add a knob of butter on top of the cooked steaks as they are resting to prevent the steaks from drying out.

Overcooked Pork Chops Are Tough This is partly due to carry-over cooking. Even when you take the chops out of the oven or off the stovetop, they still continue to cook a tiny bit due to the retained heat. And it’s often this little bit that can take them from tender to tough.

Boneless pork chops cooked in the air fryer at 400°F (204°C) should take about 12-14 minutes to cook, depending on the thickness of the chops.
Why are my pork chops tough? Because pork chops are lean, they become tough and dry when they’re overcooked. Pork chops are a very lean cut, and the longer cooking time required to bring frozen meat to proper temperature would result in the loss of a lot of the moisture in the meat. For Pork Steaks –
As many pork steaks as you want All Purpose Rub Your favorite BBQ Sauce Can of Coke Can of Sprite Honey Brine A spray bottle
Set your grill up for indirect heating. Brine for at least an hour, up to overnight if possible. Remove from brine, rinse with cold water, and place on a tray. Dust a good coating of rub on both sides of the steaks. Drizzle honey on one side of steaks. Place your steaks as far away from the heat as possible. Place whatever form of wood you’re using on your hot coals. Smoke the steaks for about an hour at 200-250. You’ll need to rotate the steaks so they all spend equal time close to the fire. Make sure smoke is billowing the entire time. While they’re smoking, pour the other half of your Coke and Sprite into a squirt bottle and spray your steaks every 15-20 minutes. After smoking for an hour, remove the steaks and wrap each, individually, in aluminum foil. Add additional coals so your grill/smoker stays in the 225 range, and again place the steaks away from the heat. You can stack them if you want. Leave them wrapped and cooking for at least 45 minutes. Check one of the steaks – you’re looking for the meat to be pulling away from the bone. If the meat is still tight to the bone, wrap it back up and put it back on. Once they are to the tenderness you want, remove from the foil and place back on grill. Pour whatever juices are in the foil back on the steaks, then dab some bbq sauce on them. Then sprinkle some dark brown sugar. Let cook for 5 – 10 minutes, enough to caramelize, and you’re ready to go.
